untitled – about dating and life

I’d like to speak about a website I’ve heard of (will never visit) where you can post about your ex and why he was so bad.  You can rate him and other ladies can view it and decide to go out with him or not, or add their own rant.  I don’t like this, and here is why:

It’s disrespectful; and you are adding to this disrespect by participating.  No matter what someone else has done to you, you still have responsibility for your own actions:  1- to respect yourself enough to have people in your life who also respect you.  2- to treat people with that same respect, no matter what.

Making mistakes is a natural part of life.  None of us are perfect!  Think about your biggest mistakes in life, aren’t those the best lessons you’ve learned… and won’t you never be that stupid again!?  The best lessons we learn in life are from our own experiential mistakes.

We are all born with natural talents — things we are effortlessly good at.  AND… we are all born with things we need to work at to get right… let alone be good at.  We all add our best talents together for a beautiful tapestry.  We work together best as we are  in support of each other, instead of competition or discord.  Every different instrument in an orchestra has their part to play and thus deepens and enhances the master-piece.

This type of public forum doesn’t allow someone an opportunity to do the actual learning from their mistakes.  1) People act and react differently with different people, and at different times in life.  2) When people are really ready to change, they just do.  No coaxing from anyone else will speed it up.  3) In order to learn and improve, usually requires a redo.  This forum for public humiliation cuts any chances to try again and do it better with someone else.

I know as I have gotten back up and mended my heart and tried again:  I keep learning things about myself, honing my relationship skills (especially communication and working together), and learning about people in general.  Additionally, I’ve learned that people act the worst when they are hurting the most!!

The law of karma is about redoing something to get it right.  Sometimes it can be about being in the other person’s shoes so you have first-hand knowledge of both sides of the situation.  Each of us creates our own wheel of karma by our actions, words and even thoughts.  And each of us will have to deal with seeing the effects of these, and then have a chance to choose differently.  That’s the natural learning process.

You may have heard of karma as being a bad thing.  Karma will only be a curse if we don’t accept the lesson at hand and do the necessary changing.  Because in the Universe’s splendid wisdom we will be given the same lesson over and over again until we figure it out… before we get to graduate on to the next one.  Karma can actually be a blessing when we understand it and use the experiences in our life to improve.  It definitely brings wisdom and compassion.

The universe creates those situations automatically.  We don’t need other imperfect humans forcing these lessons upon us.  We will only incorporate insights and change our behavior when we are ready anyway.

Let us have compassion on ourselves and those around us.  Let us remember that we all make mistakes and we all need opportunities to correct them.  Let us all strive to make atonement when we do make mistakes and mend what we have broken.  Let us respect ourselves and others… all others.

Bliss and Abundance!!!
Hope Grace Roe 🙂
