Food & Emotions

Food is a drug.

We use food to serve many purposes throughout our lives.  We can abuse food if we are not careful.  Many years ago the Universe gave me this information and it has been quite useful as I experience emotional things in life.  I feel it’s very important that everyone knows this as well and are able to utilize it when needed.

Below I will list groups of foods (not the groups you are expecting, I’m sure!) and the emotions they satisfy or invoke.  In addition, I have experienced all 3 “eating dis-orders” and I will list emotions for those as well.  If you find yourself craving something and/or overeating, look at the emotions you are hungry to satisfy.  Quite often we have an emotional need that is not being filled in the way we need it filled — on an emotional level, so Body doing it’s best to help us will send craving signals that will give us a close vibrational match.  Cravings are not to be banished, they are to be explored.  Body is not to be punished, it’s to be thanked for it’s help, even if it’s not exactly what we need, it does the best it can for you!  Then we need to find ways to fill emotional needs with healthy emotions, rather than food.  It’s all a step by step process.  Be patient with yourself and those around you.

Greens:  ground you.  Including fresh herbs; these also awaken your consciousness.  (And… actually fresh herbs are so important, perhaps it should be a separate category all together.  They have so much power we only need to use a small amount.)

Veggies:  take care of you / an emotion of you taking good care of all aspects of yourself.

Savory:  excitement, adventure / an emotion of boredom and needing something more in life or a situation.  Salty, as well as strong and rich flavors.

Fats:  calm you.  Help give patience.  A satisfied feeling that can tide you over for a while.

Sweets:  feel loved/special.  (Makes sense why sweets are traditionally used for celebratory occasions.  Additionally, why lonely feelings and sad feelings then to lead to cravings of sweets.)

Dairy:  serves as a mothered / nurtured feeling — like you are being well taken care of.  Too much can induce this feel and you become too needy for attention and nurturing outside of healthy limits; also you can become less inclined to do what’s necessary to take care of your own even basic needs on your own / for your self.

Overeating:  Overwhelmed, overstuffed, overloaded, overworked.  Apathy, often due to prolonged feelings of overwhelm.  Out of control too, but in an apathetic, helpless way.  Impulsive.

Undereating:  Restriction and control.  Needing to rein in control in some aspect of your life, especially when you feel like everything else is not an option.  Extremes.  (Although all 3 of these “eating dis-orders” are an energy of extremes.)

Purging:  Out of control and desperation.  Like a tornado spinning around you and you are helpless to do anything about it.  Not being able to live with one’s own decisions.

Write this down and keep it somewhere you can find it easily if you find yourself with cravings and are ready to take action to improve your reactions, actions and health.  I wish for everyone that we may all learn to satisfy our emotional hunger with the exact emotion we are actually craving.  Explore your Soul deeply.  And don’t be afraid to ask for a hug if that’s what you need.

Bliss and Abundance!!!

I appreciate your question and desire for common community. Unfortunately, I do not know of any forums. The things I’ve experienced have mostly been all on my own. I am certain there are forums and groups out there. A simple internet search might turn up some helpful results. Best of luck!
