Full Moon – January 2018 (2nd of 2)

Full Moon – January 2018 (2nd of 2)

PST – Los Angeles, CA:  Wednesday (Mercury day) January 31, 5:27am

EST – NYC, NY:  Wednesday (Mercury day) January 31, 8:27am

Sun:  11’37 Aquarius  /  Moon:  11’37 Leo

You have probably heard that this Full Moon in Leo is a big deal.  We have a trifecta of a Blue Moon, a Super Moon, and a Blood Moon.  Energetically it’s all just hype.  A Blue Moon is simply when 1 month has 2 Full Moons.  Since we are not living by a natural calendar anyway, our Gregorian Calendar days are arbitrary, and thus you will get a Blue Moon every once in a while.  Astrologically speaking the energy of the stars in our night-sky is no different if it’s on the 31st (creating the 2nd Full Moon in the month – Blue Moon) or on the 1st day of the next month.  A Super Moon just means the Moon is closer to the earth and so it looks larger in comparison to how we view it at other times in it’s orbit.  And the Blood Moon simply has to do with the alignment of the Sun, Moon, and Earth and sometimes the Earth’s shadow will cast a red/orange glow on the Moon.  It’s all just a bit of extra, unnecessary hype.  If you want to play into it and get together with your friends to see it and “oo and ah” about it, feel free and enjoy!  You can read more here:  http://earthsky.org/tonight/super-blue-moon-eclipse-on-january-31

Now let’s move on to the real energy of this event.  A Full Moon is about opposites, the Sun is shining as much light on the Moon as possible and the Moon reflects all of this for us to see.  All of this light shining on our emotions (moon) can be a little too much for us to handle.  When it comes to a Full Moon we deal with energies in the opposite signs whenever the Sun and Moon are opposed in the sky.

So I have here my usual list of opposites, but these 2 signs actually have many characteristics that are quite similar, some of their energies might not be complete opposites, rather they would be different types (or expressions) of a common energy.  One thing is for sure, neither of them like to live by the rules, each has an inner knowing of what is right for themselves and they make their own rules to live by.  So, at this time we might see more upheaval of the establishment (which is a good thing, although not easy to go through, but nonetheless needed at this time), and a lot of individual ideas with varying rationale behind them.

Surrounding the event a few days before and after we might have ideas, conversations or situations regarding the following:

Collective  vs  Individuality

Detached  vs  Gregarious

Responsibility  vs  Fun

Patient  vs  Enthusiastic, or even overly Zealous

Efficient  vs  Sporadic

Cool energy  vs  Fiery energy

Thinking  vs  Feeling

Ingenuity of mind (plans of action)  vs  Ingenuity of heart (jumping without a plan, “winging it”)

Logical/Intellect/Mind  vs  Emotional/Spontaneous/Heart

And a few characteristics that aren’t necessarily opposites, but important to mention anyway:

Aquarius:  Rebellion, Inventive, Eccentric, Inclusive, Altruistic, Independent (Aquarians reserves the right be Inclusive as well as Independent because they can be rebellious and don’t have to abide by anyone’s rules or structures and can change their mind at any time if they want to.)

Leo:  Gracious, Generous, Creative, Hospitable, Selfish, Leader

Sun in Aquarius has a cool energy.  Venus is at a 5 degree orb, and she brings in a beautiful and pleasant energy.  With this mix of Sun & Venus in group-oriented Aquarius we might feel like right now is a good time to get together with friends or maybe go out and make new friends, possibly by joining a new group or actually attending a MeetUp that we usually ignore when we see new events posted and usually never send an RSVP.

Moon is in Leo reminding us to enjoy our journeys in life.  North Node is close at a 4 degree orb and this reminds us that as we move forward with our goals that we also plan in or make time for some fun, in between so much seriousness.

If you are on the Left Coast like I am right now, this Full Moon Eclipse perfects before Sunrise, if you feel like getting up early go outside to see it, the Moon will be just above the horizon in the West.  Unfortunately, my New Yorkers won’t get to see this event with your eyes, as the Sun will already be up by 8:27am.  For us here in the West the Sun will be in the 1st House of Self and the Moon will be in the 7th House of Partnerships.  This will emphasize our focus of ourselves and our goals and how they relate to others in our lives, especially our romantic partners, or business partners.  Due to this configuration, it’s actually a good time to take inventory and/or make plans concerning partnerships, as we will be able to see all sides of a situation.  The Sun’s placement is often a stronger pull, being the main luminary; whereas the Moon only reflects the Sun’s light.  Usually we would tend to lead toward the Sun’s placement, in addition for us on the West Coast it’s placement also happens to be in the 1st House so we might lean towards the Self, but the Moon and the NN in the 7th will shine a light on all things on the other side – opposite us.  This is a great time for negotiations or planning.  Especially since every other planet in the sky is moving in direct motion, nobody is retrograde for a while; and let’s not forget Venus’ softening affect on the Sun as well.  So, send some emails, make some calls and get some things going and planned and on the calendar.

Or if you aren’t planning any big life goals just go out and be social.  If you are looking for a partner now is a good time to meet people, the energy is ripe for making connections.  I don’t put too much emphasis on Valentine’s Day and the pressure to have someone special to be with that night, but since love will be in the air, these next few weeks could be a good time to make a connection with someone new, and then let it build organically without pushing it to happen by a particular day, February 14th.  Or like Moon in Leo might encourage us to just be light-hearted and enjoy life and make sure to have some fun mixed into our lives.

Now let’s talk about the eclipse.  All of the energy is there anyway, as mentioned above.  An eclipse will magnify the energy and sometimes speed up events in our lives.  It’s always advisable to be aware of what is going on in your life, and the energy of the transits at the moment and to be prepared for this massive boost of energy, otherwise it could bowl us over.  As well if we are aware we can use the energy available to accomplish things in our lives while the energy has a natural affinity to work in a certain way.  When an eclipse happens (which is usually 4 times a year, but could happen a few more times, depending on the year’s transits – 5 this year) it’s effects can last up to 6 months.  Our next Lunar Eclipse will be on July 27th this year.  So pay attention during any eclipse and right now for the next few days and especially on Wednesday.  Take note of what is currently going on and if anything particular happens during this time.  Take a look at your natal chart to see how the current transits will affect you on a personal level.  I can only talk about the general energy here.

As mentioned above where the Moon’s energy might be stronger this time than the Sun’s, this is just due to the configuration in the sky.  In addition to this which would be there anyway, because the eclipse is a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse, this also will shift the strength of this event to the Moon’s side.  So we are a little more emphasized on the Leo/light-hearted energy, but also looking towards goals (NN) and others/partners (7th) a little more than we are focused on ourselves (1st) at this time.

Overall, we have some strong energy flowing through the consciousness of all of us right now.  And it’s a positive energy.  Use it while it’s here and everybody is direct.  We will have a few planets turning retrograde again soon enough, beginning with Jupiter early in March and Mercury 2 weeks later.  Enjoy the next several weeks.  And since I don’t write about the New Moon, I’ll just mention that in 2 weeks (February 15th) we have a Solar Eclipse also in Aquarius and this will magnify this Aquarian energy, with the union of the Sun and Moon and the power of a Solar Eclipse.

I just want to remind everyone while the year is still new that we have entered a new Universal Year of 11 which is a Master Number with a strong spiritual energy.  And the 11 goes down to a single digit of 2, bringing in an energy of unity and bonding.  This lasts throughout the year of 2018, until we shift into a new energy with the change of the year and the numbers:  2019 -> 3.

May we use this big, positive energy with everyone in direct motion to prepare for the year ahead and create an efficient and happy world for all of us to live in and enjoy.

Bliss and Abundance!!!

Hope Grace Roe 🙂
